A Non-Profit Theatre Company
About Theatre Now New York
Theatre Now New York is a professional theatre company whose history originates with two established companies — the GenesiusTheatre Guild in NewYork City and ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park,NJ. Theatre Now New York brings together the founding principles of both these companies: developmental work and mainstage theatrical productions.
Theatre Now New York’s mission is to facilitate the creation and development of new theatrical works, the re-imagining of previously produced known titles and the reinterpretation of classic works through readings, workshops, work-in-progress presentations and full productions, and to promote the understanding and appreciation of live theatre and its process by the general public. TNNY provides various opportunities for emerging, mid-career, and established theatre professionals in their ongoing creative process.
Raw Reading Series
Scripts presented at the RAW Reading Series can be at any point in the developmental process. It is a chance for both Theatre Now and the audience to hear new works presented in a spontaneous and unplanned way. Participation by the audience is an integral part of the process, which serves as an important step in the evolution of a new play or musical. The RAW Readings also allow Theatre Now to assess whether or not to move forward in the development of a particular play or musical because it embodies the vision of Theatre Now; creating impactful and potentially groundbreaking theatre.
SOUND BITES Annual Festival of 10-Minute Musicals
The SOUND BITES 10-Minute Musical Theatre Festival is presented as an annual benefit event. Proceeds support TNNY’s programs to develop new plays and musicals. SOUND BITES gives an exhilarating chance for artists of all theatrical disciplines at any point in their careers to get their work seen and possibly developed further or even produced. Submissions will be accepted for our 2015 SOUND BITES beginning in March 2015.
